«Sketched Memories. 10 years in notebooks» by Chamo San

This exhibition provides a unique opportunity to discover Chamo San’s technical virtuosity without external constraints such as clients or commissions. It’s a personal selection of intimate moments created purely for the joy of it.

The majority of these sketches are drawn directly from the artist’s environment. What began as an exercise to refine technique and hone hand skills gradually transformed into a visual album of memories.

As curators, we selected some of his original sketchbooks from the past decade. Framed in small showcases, these sketchbooks are displayed alongside a triptych that unveils their contents printed to scale. This setup allows viewers to appreciate the virtuosity of each drawing, every sketch and every unfinished piece.

In total, over 300 drawings are presented, including some featured in the eponymous book, many unpublished pieces and newly created works. The exhibition is complemented by pieces in other formats and techniques, such as etchings, and a small interactive area that encourages visitors to start their own illustrated sketchbook.
