Casino del Centre in L’Hospitalet
Capturing the festive and social essence of the oldest active institution in the city.
The Casino del Centre is a private institution that has been a cultural hub since its establishment in 1873. Its history intertwines with that of the city of l’Hospitalet de Llobregat. By invitation from the Cultural District, we undertook the realisation of this commemorative exhibition for its 150th anniversary.
The textual content stems from the preliminary research by anthropologist Adrià Tur, condensing the most relevant events and eras of the institution. Museographically, and considering the need to intermittently free up the space during the exhibition’s duration, we opted for 6 mobile structures on platforms.
This format, coupled with the use of vibrant colours, aims to reflect the joyful nature of the Casino while also addressing the visual space-filling requirement. We incorporated props and original pieces to create small scenographies that visually narrate each stage of the institution’s journey.
